	New PEF flagship program launched; nine social enterprises get P15-M loans, grants A goat breeding center in Calatrava, Negros Occidental. These are among the business ventures which received a combined P15 million in loan and grant assistance recently from the Peace and Equity Foundation (PEF).
	Long-term assistance pledged to typhoon ‘Sendong’ victims thru MoU with Xavier, social housing agency *PEF sends P500,000 to CdO, Iligan relief centers* Xavier University of Cagayan de Oro, together with the government’s Social Housing Finance Corporation and the Peace and Equity Foundation, have pledged to cooperate in “rebuilding lives and establishing climate-smart sustainable communities” after disastrous floods displaced thousands of families in Northern Mindanao late last year.

Just look at microfinance and its impact on poverty, for example. Similarly, products infused with social, ecological and ethical appeal can also enjoy a distinct market advantage. For almost a decade, the Peace Equity Access for Community Empowerment Foundation (or Peace and Equity Foundation or PEF) has been the steward of a civil-society endowment fund that has helped thousands of poor families nationwide. Recently PEF adopted a new strategic focus to enable rural households to earn better incomes through social enterprises, in the hope of developing a wider entrepreneurial base in the country’s poorest areas.
